Description of the Workshop

New teachers are faced with many challenges, but being prepared and organized can help the new teacher avoid many pitfalls and problems. Instead of trying to come up with solutions as things happen, prepare new teachers with an arsenal of ideas and activities to meet the challenges head on. In this workshop Elaine will share ideas and activities to jump start the new teacher through the first few years of teaching.

This workshop can be done in a one day or two day format. In a two day workshop teachers will delve deeper into each topic, experience more hands-on activities, games and brain based learning strategies.

• For those wanting graduate credit, Chapman University forms will be available at the workshop for 1 graduate non degree seeking credit per 5 hour workshop with an additional 15 hour practicum. Trainer About the Trainer

Elaine Haven has many years of experience in the classroom and in doing teacher workshops. She is the author of nine teacher activities books on a variety of grades including K-8. For the past six years Elaine has been taking courses in brain based learning strategies/best practices and shares these ideas and activities in her workshops. In 1998 she won The National Presidential Award in Elementary Math.
